Luke 4: 34- 37 - “ Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [a]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. 36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.“

Have you ever seen a car accident happen or been in an accident? Hearing the story of a loved one who has been in an accident, can rock you to the core.

If you were in the accident, you keep reliving every detail, as if in slow motion. It's a remarkable thing really how the mind replays shocking events with such great detail. We must communicate these details to others in order to process them. We have had a brush with our mortality and experienced something completely out of our control. Thankfully and hopefully accidents are few and far between, but they do stick in our mind.

What these men witnessed with a demon coming out of another individual because Jesus told the demon to come out, also is an incident that is out of the ordinary. I would bet that these men could recount all of these fascinating details and that they were stuck in their minds. I'm sure they had many reasons for wanting to report this incident and communicate it to others, "into every place in the surrounding region."

Stories that involve loved ones are stories we tend to keep telling to others. Especially when a story or accident has altered an individual physically or mentally.

Even more should we keep telling the stories shared by Jesus’ followers of how He healed the lame and drove demons out of suffering individuals.
