Is there peace?

A little something fun I was painting last week for my son’s apartment. (not quite done)

Last week was something out of a movie for me. The movie that comes to mind is the movie, True Lies, with Arnold Schwartzenager and Jamie Lee Curtis. One of the most famous lines comes from this movie, "Get to the choppa," spoken by Arnold with his strong German accent. If you can recall, this movie was action packed with every kind of adventure imaginable. Thankfully, I was not required to run to the chopper last week. However, my week resembled this movie and could have been a big hit. I'm not sure what the famous tagline would have been, but I am thankful that I felt the loving presence of peace through my faith in Jesus.

Yesterday my husband and I observed the day of rest that God lived out as an example for us to observe. Today is a new day, and we both feel like our feet are underneath us again. Last Friday, at the end of the day, I was not able to explain to my daughter or husband when they asked about my day. However, my daughter did see my forearms, and asked me if I had fallen. Both of my forearms are bruised from popping out brads to disconnect the springs from the platform of my parents box spring. This was one of the many jobs my brother and I worked on together last Friday. Our plan was to use the wooden platform underneath the mattress without the springs to lower my parents bed by 4- 5 inches, making it safer for my Mom to exit her bed in route to one of her many bathroom treks in the dark of night. The height of the bed had presented as a hazard and resulted in several falls for my Mom. This was not the explanation I had given my daughter when she asked me about my arms. I was simply too tired to recount or explain much, if any of that day to her at that time.

Sometimes, I do find that it can be easier to keep moving forward through challenging periods without sharing too much detail. However, it is important for our loved ones to feel safe asking for help, and I encourage asking the hard questions. Amazingly, last week, as packed full of highlight reels as it was, I had a peace over me. I am in a different place and a close friend of peace at this stage of my life. Much of this peace is attributed to my relationship with Jesus, and my support of loving friends who pray for my needs. This is a true gift!

"Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled , neither let it be afraid." -John 14:27
