Fall From Grace

Is it human nature to wish harm on someone with whom you do not agree?

One of the greatest puzzling ideas in life, as I grow older (and wiser, questionable I know), is how people love to see someone rise to fame or accomplish something unbelievable. And yet, many people are almost just as excited to see them fall from glory. Society has capitalized on the rise and fall of individuals.
People really grab hold of the individuals who exhibit fascinating skills. And although we enjoy witnessing others rise to fame, the truth can also be said about the fall. It is crazy to me that the same people who enjoyed: a beautiful voice through song, the healing from an illness, the acting in a box office hit, the countless miracles, the Tesla… will forget the early excitement they had for these amazing feats. Not only do people forget these gifts, but they turn on these individuals who have dedicated, sacrificed, and given so much of themselves to offer these great accomplishments to the world. The key phrase in this is “giving to the world.” What lies beyond this world is the true gift.
Fact, Jesus walked this earth. Jesus never exhibited wealth or fame, yet He had a large following throughout His time on earth. Until, the threatened leaders of the time turned on Him. Not only did they turn on Him, they wanted Him crucified.
Countless times in my youth, while driving around in my car, feeling free and full of life, someone would cut me off or do something so stupid that almost caused an accident. My knee jerk response was to give them the finger, or curse them out, or both. Something about having the freedom to hate on someone was so easy and fun. Yet, the anger and hate that this incident invoked would stay with me for long periods of time. It was like being trapped in an hour glass of evil.
Human nature can be extremely evil. This is yet another reason that God sent us His Son. Not only did He die for our sins, but He was a walking example of love, kindness, caring and giving to others, throughout His entire life.
When turning away from worldly ways, life can be filled with love and peace. By releasing and letting go of hate and seeing each individual how Jesus did, love and peace can prevail. When seeing an individual through loving and kind eyes, peace will be found. Internal resting peace, filled with goodness, will fill your thoughts and consume your mind.
Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“
