Needs

Do you find yourself in need on a day-to-day basis?

Thankfully, I feel as though most people reading this blog have a roof over their heads every night and a bed to sleep on. Another blessing is that most of us have access to food that sustains us and fuels our bodies. Most of us have access to clean water to drink. These are our essential needs in life. However, many other people in this world do not have these needs met daily.

The physical needs that were mentioned above comfort us and sustain our bodies. However, other needs humans require for a fulfilling life include our spiritual needs. How we love ourselves and others comes from within us, from the Spirit. Our internal dialogue is important for a healthy walk through life. Peace can be with us if our spirit is fueled.

After my Mom passed from this life almost three weeks ago, I found myself needing to tend to my body's physical needs and my mind's emotional needs. I incorporated exercise to help my body discard the emotional sorrow that it was holding onto. I relied on prayer and spent time reading my Bible to ease my spirit. Also, connection with loved ones helped me process all my grief.

Our need to connect to others and with our emotions is real. If our spirit is not fulfilled, we cannot connect with others. God gives everyone the choice to have a relationship with Him. Prayer connects us with God. His word connects us with God. Worship can fuel the spirit within us.

We can exercise and care for our bodies, but we must also fill our minds with God's goodness to achieve internal peace. Importantly, rest and connection with nature and our Creator help us to recover. How else will peace return to us?

Make sure you take the right actions to meet your physical and emotional needs every single day. God's word reminds us.

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I will not be in need.

He lets me lie down in green pastures:

He leads me to quiet waters. He restores my soul;

He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the

sake of His name.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I fear no evil, for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Certainly goodness and faithfulness

will follow me all the days of my life,

And my dwelling will be

in the house of the Lord

forever." -Psalm 23
