Wheel House

How often do you force yourself outside your wheel house?

This was my thought while taking my dog out this morning. He is the quirkiest dog ever. My husband and I have had the conversation recently that we believe he would hold his waste until he popped. If we didn't take him outside to his spot and tell him to go. Not only that, but he is the absolutely slowest dog ever. He will wait at the bottom of the stairs for an extended period of time, until forced to come up or until he is picked up, I have never actually tracked the time. However, if he does actually make it up the stairs on his own, I find myself praising him with, "you are so good." "Way to go, Bob!"
Receiving recognition and encouragement in life is a blessing that not everyone has the privilege of receiving from this world. We oftentimes must find the courage on our own to force ourselves to power through each new circumstance or sometimes a screenshot of a day. Yesterday I actually spent most of my day researching and reading my Bible. I worked on a post all day. This morning I felt that I was not encouraged enough to post it yet.
Much of my day yesterday was spent reading Paul's words and encouragement to all the new Christians around Jerusalem, written some 2000 years ago. How important it is to give and receive encouragement. What a gift that Paul was obedient to God after receiving his miracle of restored sight. God used Paul to spread His good news and give encouragement to help restore believers faith while walking through this world.
It wasn't until this morning when taking my dog outside, that I figured this is what I should write about today. How often each one of us is forced outside of our wheel house in a lifetime. We can be outside our wheel house, but with faith in Jesus, we are never alone. The world is a loud, nagging, distracted place. This is all the more reason to turn to the word of God daily. There will always be negativity coming at us in the world, but with faith and encouragement that we hold on to, we can be reassured with where our hope comes from through faith.
"A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. 'I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world." -John 16: 32-33
Words spoken by Jesus as recorded by the Apostle John.
