How are you when faced with a storm?

What a gift to be at peace when others are losing their patience. How much is really gained from losing your place of peace? And will the pressure actually be beneficial in the time of stress? If your trust and focus are from above, it can be much easier to be the stone in the middle of the stream, letting water flow over you and not move you from your place of peace.
“Be the stone in the center of the stream, and let the water flow right over you.” My husband used this metaphor too many times to count with our children. When the pressures around them were high, especially at big swim meets or before a big exam, this phrase was usually spoken. These are times when staying calm is a gift to your internal being. When the mind is stressed, the body burns energy and the heart is forced to pump faster. There is really no gain when stress levels are raised.
There are tools we can use to aid us in avoiding more stress in everyday situations. First, make sure parameters are clear and definite. Secondly, honor these parameters and do not add more or change them. They should be clear cut. Thirdly, speak the truth when pressure is applied. Most importantly, when pressure is applied by individuals or a situation, keep your focus on above and within yourself by praying and staying connected with peace from the true one who matters, our Creator. He knows that pressures applied by people are not of concern or worry to Him, and therefore should not be for us. We are to put our trust and hope in Him. We are not to be detoured by others who stir up controversy or apply pressure. Keep your focus on above and peace will reign free in your life.
Remember that God asked that we love one another. Love does not include unneccessary pressure, anger, or fuss of any kind. Love is patient, and love is kind. Love as God has called us to love, and peace will eminate from within. God has overcome the world by sending us His Son.
John 16: 33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
