Are you happier when you feel connected to someone?

Hopefully you have already filled your cup this morning with something pleasing and experienced the taste of something delicious. As you wiped the sleep from your eyes and focused on prepping your beverage of choice, I hope you felt blessed by the sight of all that was around you. When the coffee maker or tea kettle was percolating, I hope your excitement and anticipation were heightened when you heard the gurgling noises and smelled the amazing scent of morning goodness. If you are blessed to share your morning with a loved one, I hope you were able to hug or kiss them to greet your day. Touch is so powerful and fills our cup to the rim. Just this one routine act that starts a day, has connected you to this morning. Have you experienced the goodness and felt gratitude?

We have been gifted 5 wonderful senses. It's amazing how easily we can take these gifts for granted. When we break down the senses and focus on each one specifically for even 5 minutes, the awe of these gifts are revealed. Each one of these senses allow us to connect to this world. We also use these senses to connect to others on a daily basis. Connection to this world is essential for fulfillment. Connection provides happiness and joy to everyone, if we acknowledge and focus on the goodness.

We all long to be connected. This connection fulfills us, and makes us feel a certain special way. Some could speculate that this feeling is love. Just like being connected to someone comforts us, we can connect with God through prayer. God longs for us to do so.

Prayer connects us to our Maker, and brings us closer to God. The comfort that God provides us when we are close with Him can fill the cup to the rim with love and peace. I hope each one of you reading this today will focus on the gifts of the 5 senses today, and how they allow you to connect with others and ground you in the present. I hope you are reminded of what a gift connection is with others, especially those whom you love. Hide gratitude in your heart every single day, as you give thanks to the giver of life and love.

"However, as it is written:

'What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived'--

the things God has prepared for those who love Him--"

-1 Corinthians 2:9
