What do you choose?

I have been spending lots of time with my Mom over the weekend. She has moved to a full-time care facility in her retirement community where my Mom and Dad live. My Dad is taking a much needed break. I am beyond thankful for the love and support he has given her throughout her life, but especially the past several years. Last summer I referred to my Dad as Superman at our family reunion, because of his amazing ability to love. He loves all and sees the best in people. He has also mastered forgiveness. What a role model! I am beyond grateful for your example and thankful you are my Dad!

The gift that my Dad has given to all of us has been mirrored and reflected through my Mom these last few days in our time spent together. She lights up when she sees my face and hears my voice. She still knows who I am, and she proudly introduces me to the nurses when they enter her room. She is being so brave as she walks this challenging walk.

My Mom has chosen to love throughout her life as well. Love out weighs bitterness to the end. It is a true daily choice that every one of us must make every single day. Let go of hurt from this world and keep your faith in God’s promises of eternal joy and peace. He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” - Hebrews 13: 5
