Own It

Do you own your actions?

Love requires one to look outside themselves. Consider others first before your own desires sometimes. Hold your tongue and deal with it. Each one of us eventually has to learn to handle our own emotions before unleashing them onto others. Learn to hold your tongue, we all are dealing with something.
I just had a lovely visit with my youngest out in Colorado. The return however pushed me to my limits. My journey home started on Thursday at 10am, when I returned my rental car to the airport. I arrived in my driveway via Uber Saturday around 1:00pm. There were so many lessons I learned about me and about others from this epic journey.
Let me start with I did a lot of praying. The result was that I made it home alive. My specific prayers didn’t seem to be answered the way I wanted. However, I used this adventure to gain strength in adversity and aim to bless others alone the way.
There were probably 2000 individuals impacted by weather delays in Dallas on Thursday. Lines at the American ticket counters were the longest lines I had ever seen, with the longest line including some 400 people. In another terminal, the lines were around 200 and 100. These were the ones that I saw. If you left the airport without making arrangements to try and schedule another flight, you would forfeit any return flights.
People long to be heard, and tell their story. Hello, we were all in the same boat, and trying to get on a plane home. (Travel reference intended). You would think that some individuals who were on the airport shuttles would have picked up on that, but some still had to tell their story, to me.
I did my best to encourage others along the way, and bless them when I was able. On Friday morning, I stood in line at a Starbucks. I must say that prior to this trip, I cannot recall the last time I frequented Starbucks. I grabbed several snack items in case I didn’t have time for a meal like the night before, when I made it to a bed at 1:30am. Beyond thankful for that bed! One of the items was a kids pouch with strawberry and banana that you squeeze into your mouth. I wasn’t sure why I was buying this at the time. I paid and moved over to the waiting area. This woman with a small child around 2 years old squeezed in and grabbed her coffee. Her daughter could be heard upon approaching. The mother, who was rolling a packed duffel with another large bag on top, now held a coffee in her free hand. Her daughter walking, more like stumbling, was crying loudly. I grabbed the pouch and approached the Mother and little girl and asked if she could have it. The Mother was very appreciative and the little girl was contented.
I believe God may have used me to answer this woman’s prayer or to help her through her own journey. It is so important to listen to God. We do not always need to voice our own struggles. With His help, we can be comforted.
Matthew 19:26: "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”
