Why did Jesus speak in parables?

Peaceful Sleep- A true gift!
Peaceful Sleep- A true gift!

"But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so that

'Seeing they may see and not perceive,

And hearing they may hear and not understand;

Lest they should turn,

And their sins be forgiven them.'

And He said to them, 'Do you not understand this parable?' How then will you understand all the parables.'" Mark 4: 10- 14

My nights are accompanied with unsettling symptoms that are incomprehensible. My peaceful and restorative nights of sleep are no longer reality. What is happening with my body, I do not understand.

My focus needs to remain on God's gifts: peace, hope, joy, and love. We are not of this world. We will be called home one day. Our bodies will be restored with no risk of change. This is a promise. We will no longer be self-aware. We will be in His presence.

What a gift!

Suffering is our way of connecting with Jesus on a personal level in this life. Jesus suffered an undeserving death for each and every one of us. God sent Jesus to eradicate sin and restore all, who believe in Him, to an eternal life of glory. All worldly desires are stripped away when we suffer. We either crumble, or we rise up and put our trust in God.

As a follower of Christ, we are called to trust fully and not rely on our own understanding. Remember our greatest gift in this life is love. We will take nothing with us when we leave this life, except love, if we chose to submit to Jesus and receive His greatest gift. What a blessing!

Those of you who have hardened hearts will not be able to absorb what I have written above. Jesus knew that humans can harden their hearts to survive the painful events of life. He also knew that humans are proud, and long to prove self- reliance, strength and wisdom. He knew that humans want to control their lives. He knows all about us. He created us, in His image. This is why Jesus chose to speak in parables. He figured if an individual believes that he or she has solved the mystery of faith in God Almighty, that he or she would then surrender and live by faith. We are all proud and privileged.

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the light, no one comes to the Father except through me.'"

-John 14:6

Will you chose to surrender and walk with the light (where there is light, there is no evil/darkness), seeking the truth and love eternal?
