Are you living the life God called you to live?

In a recent sermon I heard by Dr. Daryl Jones, the following questions were asked. What is cheering you on in this life? Do you seek attention to boost your self-esteem? Do you rely on others to define your purpose? Do you desire to serve others without selfish concerns?
Included in this post are notes from Dr. Daryl Jones’ sermon. Some of his words are verbatim, while others I have elaborated on. “It’s all about God’s grace. The cheers that motivate us are from the witnesses that cheer us on. We are surrounded by a great crowd of witnesses. These witnesses are also pace setters. God has set a path and race that God has set us up to run. God has put us in our own lanes, not to look anywhere other than the finish line, Jesus. We are not suppose to get in other people’s lanes. That would disqualify us. We can’t get distracted. Comparing ourselves to others will derail us, and we will have more obstacles that can make us stray from our own lane.”
We are all living so distracted. Living our lives out in the open on social media. All of social media includes clips that are the highlight reels. Who is going to post the sad stories? The world uses smoke and mirrors. The struggle of the rich and famous has been visible since the beginning. You’re chasing the wrong things. We are not able to handle living our lives under a microscope, giving others the ability to judge us. These are distractions.
“Peace, joy, sufficiency, and purpose are found in Jesus. You are meant to be the person God called you to be.”
When God tells us not to lie, and we justify it, we are expressing unbelief. That lie can derail our life. We must keep our eyes on Jesus and chose to walk the walk every single day, every single hour, every single minute. God gives us the power to walk this walk and to do what He has called us to do. He has promised that what is at the end is better than anything this world has to offer us. Make sure to run the race of your life and keep your eyes on the finished line, God. Everyone will cross the finish line, but will you receive “the crown of life.”
The same God is cheering us on. He is faithful. It is true that no one is perfect. However, there is no need to surround yourself or open your life up to judgement from others. Only God is capable of overlooking and forgiving our shortcomings. He calls us to give us His everything. He wants us to trust Him, and He will handle everything else.
TRUST Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your path straight.”
